Seraph - Reference Sheet

This my character Seraph I created for a roleplay with

Cleaning the scan kinda killed the colouring a bit, so I've uploaded an uncleaned version to scraps here

I tried to do blue roan colouring how it actually occurs in real horses, a combination of white, black, and grey to form an almost bluish appearance. Took a while to fiddle around on side paper to test how to try and accomplish this, working with a Cool Grey 50%, Warm Grey 50%, and Black pencils. It turned out okay enough, though didn't quite get enough bluish appearance methinks, but it was a fun exploration with colouring, I think it was definately worth the effort.

Armor: Scale "skirt" with blue and green camo-esque colouring
Abilities: Capable of communicating with animals, notably spiders and birds.
Accessories: Ankh-like talisman
Flaws:
Severe fear and aversion to anything magical.
Obsessive inability to cope with loss
Stubborn for the most part, though tends to show a more submissive side in intimate situations

White diamond on throat
White feathering about his wrists and hooves

History:
Seraph has always held an appetite for adventure, and consequently a bad habit of getting into trouble. One such time, at the age of 22, resulted in the death of his stallion love Semu'Ta by an ancient magic.

Having already grown a skittish nature towards magic, this trajic event drove him to a severe paranoia and distrust of magic. Unable to properly cope with the loss of his love, he wandered for seven years seeking a manner to revive Semu'Ta, always travelling alone.

Finally he heard word of the Shield of Zanu, a magical artifact that is told to open a path for one to retrieve something what they have lost and long for the most. It can only be used for one person's wish once per century, and it doesn't merely give the user what they want. In Seraph's case, it would open a pathway into hell, it would still be up to him to traverse the underworld, find his lost love, and escape. However, despite the fact it's magical, and the incredible dangers of using it, Seraph begins to seek it, having lost any other reason to live, even if he dies trying.

It is hidden in a underground temple, and upon seeking the ruins to gain access to it, he runs into some complications with the map he has, and the actual layout of the land. Trying to figure out what to do next, he's approached in a tavern by a stallion named Ferion. Having nothing better to do, Ferion offers to help on his quest, and for the first time in 7 years Seraph accepts and they leave.

Right from the beginning a bond begins to form between them as Ferion helps Seraph begin to deal with and accept the loss of Semu'Ta, and face his fear of magic. Learning of Ferion's search for a missing part of his memories, eventually Seraph would leave his past behind him so Ferion could use the Shield of Zanu, helping him on whatever quest it's magic would reveal...
