Literature Text

A happy rain, it falls like tears from stars,
but all the learn-ed know to see is heaven's scars.
A child's stick flows down the streams,
in puddles they bounce with happy screams.
But we forget the day as it flows through the drain.
No more dreams, no more wishes, life charges it's fare.
Innocence is there when the heart has no load to bear.

Staring at the midnight sky we often find,
our hearts take weakling seeds to throw away.
Tossing hopes upon the streaking fires that won't last,
desires leaving heart just as fast.
Lost and alone, life goes on, downward spirals of routine.
No more dreams, no more wishes, one's heart burns without fire.
On innocence we can rely when the heart has no need to sigh.

With sparkling eyes the children stare,
dreams from heaven in their hearts do flare.
Knowledge tells us we know better,
our gods and sciences make us so clever.
Fragile dreams, their wishes so easily killed,
a life like ours each child billed.
No more dreams, no more wishes, fearing the raincloud's grey.
Innocence is the falling rain that our hearts keep at bay.
Thoughts of "innocence" and "knowledge" playing through my mind as I walked, staring at the stars and listening to "Wake me up when September ends" by Green Day.
